FSMA 101 Seminar

The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) is the most sweeping reform of the FDA’s food safety authority in more than 70 years. This act gives the FDA new and enhanced mandates and authorities to protect consumers and promote public health by shifting the focus from responding to food borne illness to preventing it.

Producers of food and beverages will be required to comply with these sweeping regulations and update their Good Manufacturing Practices of GMP’s. The law applies to all food and dairy processors who manufacture products that are not regulated by USDA FSIS (meat and poultry). The law also applies to food importers, manufacturers of pet food and animal feed, and farms that grow fruits and vegetables. The FSMA regulation deals with the requirements of current good manufacturing practices, hazard analysis, and risk-based preventive controls.

You Will Learn:

    • What is FSMA
    • Introduction to the course and Preventive controls
    • Food Safety plan overview and what is needed
    • Biological, chemical, physical, and economically motivated food safety hazards
