Lean 101 & The Future of Woodshop

Lean 101 provides an overview of the processes and practices known as Lean Tools. You will experience an interactive hands-on simulation designed to convey Lean concepts and benefits in an engaging, informative, and entertaining format. You will acquire a foundational understanding of Lean manufacturing and will be trained to begin using basic Lean tools and processes to effect transformation in your woodshops immediately.

Lean Manufacturing Consultant at University of Utah MEP Cente

Eric Burton is an Expert Lean Consultant at the University of Utah Manufacturing Extension Partnership, where he develops and delivers targeted operational excellence consulting to in-state manufacturers, including: KPIs and Visual Management systems, Daily Kaizen employee engagement systems, and Rapid Improvement/Sprint events.

Eric’s operational excellence foundation comes from US Synthetic where he worked as Continuous Improvement Manager when they were awarded the Shingo Prize for Operational excellence in 2011. Eric has a track record of successful application of Lean and Operational Excellence across multiple industries and in multiple countries. Eric has served as Director of Manufacturing for MityLite, Director of Global continuous improvement for Tahitian Noni International, and as a Senior Project Manager with the Manufacturing Partnership under NIST. Eric holds an Associate’s of Applied Science from Utah Valley University.
