ABOUT LION ENERGY

Lion Energy of American Fork builds hand-held devices and solar generators for home and commercial energy storage. Their renewable energy solutions help people and organizations become energy independent through safe, silent, renewable power.

THE CHALLENGE

Lion Energy has experienced huge growth. They were ranked No. 8 out of 100 companies honored at the 27th annual Utah 100 Awards, based on revenue growth between 2016 and 2022. But with growth comes the need to adapt and plan for the future. To that end, their management team enlisted iMpact to help adjust their processes for sustainable growth.

THE RESULTS

  • 60 new or retained jobs
  • $10,000,000 in new or retained sales
  • $500,000 in cost savings

OUR ROLE

In response to Lion Energy’s rapidly growing team, iMpact advised the Lion team on updating policies, organizing pay structures, clarifying roles, and optimizing communication across and within groups.

We also helped Lion Energy define and implement the most impactful KPIs (key performance indicators) to measure success. Then they aligned the entire leadership team under the same strategy to track KPIs and achieve their collective goals.

“The training we completed gave us a clear understanding of our pain points from an external perspective. The ideas given to us to improve our systems have changed how I think about managing processes and teams. Everything I’ve learned has helped me restructure my thoughts and approach situations. The team was super helpful and experienced. Their processes were put together and easy to follow. The feedback they gave us on how we could improve was helpful not only for me but for my entire team.”

ABOUT ACT AEROSPACE

Since 2004, ACT Aerospace has been a leader in the aerospace and defense industry. ACT creates crucial components on some of the most respected aircraft in the industry and has earned a position based on reputation for quality engineering. The company is headquartered in Gunnison, Utah, with 52 employees. ACT's capabilities include hand laid-up laminate construction, filament winding, composite compression molding and large autoclave/oven curing.

THE CHALLENGE

As a supplier to the aerospace industry, ACT Aerospace must maintain certain certifications regarding the quality of their work. A key client demanded a review of DFARS compliance, particularly focused on reviewing ACT's NIST 800-171 to demonstrate cybersecurity requirement compliance.

THE RESULTS

  • Over $10,000,000 in retained sales
  • Over $3,000,000 in new sales
  • Improved client trust

OUR ROLE

iMpact Utah, sub-Recipient of the University of Utah MEP and part of the MEP National Network™, worked with key members of ACT Aerospace team to review the current level of cybersecurity within the company. As part of this project, iMpact trained staff with NIST SP 800-171 Cybersecurity guidelines and requirements and helped them to maximize current IT technology and staff capability.

iMpact also worked with ACT to develop a cybersecurity plan. The company’s client approved the plan and allowed the order pipeline to continue. As a result of this project, ACT also developed documentation to prove they are following the guidelines and requirements for DFARS compliance.

“ACT Aerospace appreciates iMpact Utah’s expertise for our cybersecurity needs. We understand the importance of being DFARS compliant in our industry. We already have experienced staff in the field and Impact was able to help us tighten things up in a few key areas. The plan we jointly developed works for us, we can update it, and it will live on after they leave.”
